GLOBALSTAR GLASS--Tempered Glass Description:
- Tempered glass is produced by heating annealed glass in a furnace to 620 degree centigrade.  Progressing from the furnace, the glass is rapidly cooled with jets of cold air, inducing compressive stresses to the surface while the center remains tensile. 
- It is 5 times stronger than annealed glass of the same thickness. 
- Stronger resistance to thermal breakage than annealed or heat strengthened glass 
- If breakage occurs the glass breaks up into small, cubical fragments, which are not threatening to humans.

Edge work
An arrissed edge is the simplest type of edgework and consists of removing the sharp edges from "as cut" glass. Flat ground edges give a flat profile with smooth arris. A polished edge can be specified for exposed edges, e.g. in furniture.

Glass Finishing

You may be uncertain about whether to order a table top cover made from ordinary glass or tempered glass. Keep in mind that accidents can happen at any time. Regular glass is made with an annealing process. The glass cools down quickly for ease in manufacturing. it will fall into large, sharp pieces when it breaks. Tempered glass is stronger and breaks into small, less sharp pieces. Tempered glass is more impact and scratch resistant.

Laminated glass
Laminated glass is made from two or three pieces of glass with a thin PVB or SGP film between each glass, processed with high temperature and high pressure. It can be made from
high-grade float glass, plated glass, tempered glass and curved glass. It would not crash into fragments when broken, since they are felt by the film. It would reduce the harm to people by the glass piece when the glass was broken, since it's not easily penetrated.
